THESIS defended in 2022
«Devi, figure(s) of the feminine in the poetics of contemporary Bharata Natyam, danced theatre of South India. Study of repertoire pieces in Tamil Nadu from 2000 to 2020. This research studies pieces by Bharata Natyam in which appears Devi, "the goddess". If she is manifested through multiple figures such as Kali, Parvati, Sarasvati and others forms of the goddess, her importance on the stage of Bharata Natyam exceeds the simple narrative or figurative dimension. How do the plays draw on a poetic text, a song, or a mythological figure? This study through the prism of female figures highlights their aesthetic issues and develops a methodology for analyzing the scene in its poetic relationship to the contemporary world. Jury: Jean-François Dusigne (President), Katia Légeret (Director) and Nathalie Coutelet from Paris 8 University, Uma Damodar Sridhar (EFL University, Hyderabad, Pierre Katuszewski (Université Bordeaux Montaigne), Vijayalakshmi Rao (JNU University, New Delhi, Inde).
